memories
Reading about the death of Tasha Tudor made me remember a day, maybe 35 years ago, when I found a used copy of The Secret Garden at Moe's in Berkeley (and hey, other sad news, Cody's closing down) and tried to get my mom to buy it for me because the cover was so gorgeous. She refused, because I already owned a copy of The Secret Garden. I will officially forgive her now, since we had very little money, but I never stopped craving that Dell Yearling edition.
Some years later, Tudor's version of A Little Princess also became my favorite of many different editions I read in many different libraries. I now have both books in lovely hardcovers. Sometimes it's good to be a grown-up.
