my name's not Marian

I've had many emails over the years asking me to play online librarian, and back in the days when it was actually kind of challenging to find information online and I was much less crabby, I would often try to help, but this one took the cake:

Subject: study notes for down a dark hall way by lois duncan

Please send notes [email address omitted]
thank-you

I'm tempted to reply, "please send payment first."

I used to get that a lot from international graduate students, on the topic of my thesis. It would be like: please send me the solution to this complex and detailed problem (which is clearly an exam question of some sort). The arrogance of people is astounding sometimes.

And a particular shame in this case, because what a great book to actually read for yourself.

That aspect of it hadn't even occurred to me, but you're so right! Kind of hilarious, in a sad way.
