Yes, the cakes look nice, but I've known people who make these cakes and the decorative fondant that is on the outside makes the entire cake inedible, as in, tastes like chewy chemical plastic. If an edible cake at your wedding matters...
Favorite wedding cake I saw recently: tiered cannoli held together with whipped cream.
Well, that's a point. Our wedding cake was tame, but tasty.
A friend of mine made a cake by stuffing Hostess little chocolate donuts into a ring pan to make one big donut shaped... thing. (Not for a wedding, mind you.) Some sort of goo may also have been involved, I don't remember. It was much enjoyed.
