these kids today

I very much enjoyed the comments in Scott Westerfeld's Westerblog about the Naomi Wolf article on "gossip girls" type-books. I just want to know: where the hell were all these smart, book-loving teens when I was young? I totally want to hang out with these kids, but they would probably be annoyed by the four-year-old boy clinging to my hand...
