well, this is surprising

I haven't been able to find any interviews with K.M. Peyton, but I did find a site which claims that Peyton is actually two people! I'm not buying it without confirmation, but I am curious. Will check Something About the Author ASAP.

I also came across a discussion of the Flambards books from rec.arts.books.children that I had forgotten about. I think Anita makes excellent points (and not just because she references me.)

I found that out about Peyton this morning as well! Although the site I saw said that she kept the name long after she stopped writing with her husband.

That is an interesting post, and I agree with almost all of it, though I still think I stick with the idea that Christina has more of that need as well as craving for excitement than Dick alone doesn't seem to share, in any book. Will has it too, but he's got an outlet that doesn't involve cruelty, unlike Christina and Mark.

But I do mourn the loss of the Dick from the trilogy too...

Hmm... "stopped writing with her husband" suggests possibilities about why FD went the way it did. I want to hop a plane to England and investigate this!

(Who am I kidding, I just want to hop a plane to England...)

Oh, I didn't get that impression... It's an interesting possibility - sounds as if they're still together though. (I found the same site you link above).

If you hop on that plane I'll meet you in England - or you can come to Ireland too - lots of book lovers here!

And (being dragged away to edit daughter's story )... I'm serious about writing to her - was composing a letter of sorts while walking the dog just now.
